Funny Scene From Eorlds Strongest Man Movie

Tom Stoltman would be open to fighting Hafthor Bjornsson or Brian Shaw in the boxing ring, but he admits he hasn't really given it too much thought.

The 2022 World's Strongest Man is currently enjoying some quiet downtime with his family after winning the competition for the second time in a row.

However, he would strongly consider the idea if the right opportunity presents itself to him with a suitable offer.

"Yeah, I would do a boxing match. There's not many people who are six foot nine in the world, so they would have to be the same height as me. I couldn't really fight someone who's five foot something or other," Stoltman told GiveMeSport.com.

"But yeah, I mean, jokes aside, yeah I would do a boxing match. I don't really know who I would fight. I've not really thought about that to be honest.

"But it would be cool to fight maybe another strongman like Thor or Brian Shaw, I know Brian would never do it, but that would be funny wouldn't it?"

Stoltman, 28, was also asked to name his 'Mount Rushmore' of strongmen – and explained why Thor did not make the cut.

"Obviously, Zydrunas Savickas, Brian Shaw, Magnus Ver Magnusson, and Bill Kazmaier probably edges onto that one as well. Not Thor, though – he only won it once," Stoltman said.

Stoltman also revealed that American star Derek Poundstone and Polish icon Mariusz Pudzianowski were his two biggest inspirations growing up.

"Honestly, I didn't even know what Strongman was when I was a kid, but when I put it on just to watch it I always liked Derek Poundstone," he said.

"I always wanted to be like him or Mariusz Pudzianowski, probably those two, because they were like gods you know.

"You looked at them and their bodies were unbelievable. They weren't like the stereotypical strongmen with the bigger bellies and stuff and looking unhealthy. These guys looked like superheroes.

"So yeah, those two guys were kind of my biggest inspirations, and obviously when I started watching it, those two guys were always the ones that were on the TV competing.

"So yeah, those kind of guys were the ones I was like, wow, these guys are not human you know, Hercules and stuff."

His older brother Luke, who is ten years his senior, is also a professional strongman competitor. Together they are known collectively as 'The Stoltman Brothers'. "I mean, obviously, I've got a big brother, Luke, who does Strongman as well," Stoltman added.

"He started it first, he's ten years older than me, so when I was 16 or 17, I went into the gym with him, he would've been 26 or 27 at the time, and like I said done a few competitions.

"So when I went into the gym, usually you'd know about the T-shirt muscles, you know the biceps, triceps, chest, you know, other bodybuilding stuff, but I didn't really know about that.

"All I kind of knew was how to get strong because Luke was doing that sport so he just said, right, let's just do some deadlifts, let's do some squats, let's throw you in at the deep end.

"So that's kind of how I learned faster than I think a lot of people because they were sitting there bicep curling in the mirror while I was dying doing squats with Luke laughing at me.

"So that's kind of the difference, you know, I got thrown in at the deep end quickly and kind of progressed rapidly through the first year or two years in the gym."

Stoltman successfully defended his championship after beating Ukraine's Oleksii Novikov by 10.5 points overall to claim victory last month in Sacramento in California.

In doing so he became the first Briton since Geoff Capes to win it twice and the first ever to go back-to-back – which certainly takes some doing.

However, the pride of Scotland insists that none of this would have at all been possible without the help of his family, thanking his parents and wife for all of their support over the years.

Tom Stoltman is a massive Rangers fan

"I've got a lot of different people that motivate me," Stoltman explained. "Obviously, you know, you need to have the right support system around you. My biggest supporter is my wife, my mum passed away a few years ago and she was my biggest supporter as well and my dad, you know, so my family and my wife are the people that keep me going.

"Obviously I have down days, I have days where I'm like, why am I doing Strongman? Why am I beating my body up every single day just to do this? But then, you know, when you get these titles like the World's Strongest Man it's kind of like, well, that's why you're doing it. So yeah, I get motivated quite easily, and it's just people saying the right stuff to me.

"I never kind of look at social media. Someone can call me whatever they want but at the end of the day, you know, I'm here living my life and stuff. All the negative stuff that I see and hear, I just let it go in one ear and out the other, you know, I never ever get clued in by social media and stuff.

"But yeah, my biggest support is obviously from my family and my wife because those guys, they do everything for me. You know, my wife does all my food, does all my stuff, makes sure everything is laid out, so I'm like a big kid at home. So as long as I lift the weights and do what I'm doing, everything else is taken care of."

Stoltman, recording via Zoom, was speaking ahead of his guest appearance at Myprotein Labs Live! in London on Saturday.

Rangers

Who was Rangers' oldest player last season?

"Myprotein Labs is sponsored by Zip," he added. "It's going to be a massive, massive event this weekend. I'm going to be headlining it. You've got Eddie Hall, Matt Does Fitness is also going to be there, and all those kind of athletes.

"There's going to be questions and answers, there's going to be fitness challenges, all kinds of things going on.

"But yeah, I mean, there's still tickets left, it's going to be an awesome event. This is going to be my first event since winning the World's Strongest Man, you know, back to back.

"What better place to start it off with than MyProtein Labs and see all those guys. I love Eddie Hall, I'm looking forward to spending time with Eddie and all these other amazing athletes. So yeah, it's going to be an unbelievable event.

"I think this is kind of the best opportunity to see myself, my brother, Eddie and a lot of the other guys in the same room together for the weekend. It's on a weekend so you should be free, make yourself free, come get some tickets and see us."

Tom Stoltman will be headlining the MyProtein Labs LIVE event in London on 18th & 19th June, with tickets available on Eventbrite. You can now spread the cost of your MyProtein products across four, interest-free instalments via the Zip app: www.zip.co/uk.
